Oliver Jones

Oliver is Chief Executive and a co-founder of The Asset Factor.

Professionally, Oliver is a chartered surveyor and the holder of an MBA from London Business School where he specialised in corporate finance.

Oliver founded and led both Symonds FM in the early 1990s and Citex Group in the late 1990s and is now an acknowledged leader in the UK outsourcing and facilities management industries. He has a strong track record of developing and implementing innovative solutions for governments, commerce and industry, in both the UK and overseas.

Oliver also has a reputation for having a strong commercial focus combined with the ability to think laterally in devising novel solutions to complex business problems. He is a lecturer and presenter of note, with many published papers and articles.

In 1997, Oliver commenced a transition from FM towards the property world. As Group Property & Logistics Director for Regus, he managed the fast track global programme of serviced office new build, fit-out and support services implementation. He created turn-key solutions on 85 projects in c.20 countries over a 16 month period, and with Mark Dixon, he initiated and launched Regus’ medium term flexible space product: NetSpace.

In both Symonds FM and Citex, as well as more recently with Carillion, Oliver has been involved in many of the most notable deals in the property and FM outsourcing worlds – covering deals with major corporates such as BP, BT (Monteray), Cable & Wireless, Coca Cola, HSBC, Microsoft, PCCW Hong Kong Telecom and Telewest. In each of these deals, Oliver’s focus was on re-engineering management structures, systems and supply chains to deliver enhanced service levels and cost savings of up to 35% per annum.

His experience has also extended to many more complex initiatives that have included DSS / DWP PRIME and major PFIs in central government, health and defence where property, finance and business services outsourcing have been core to each deal. A recent example of such an opportunity was in local government in leading the Bradford AMP team for Carillion in 2004-5.

Finally, his application skills have been tested and further developed in many different international environments – including the mobilisation and transformation of FM services under new first generation outsourcing contracts for 4m sq ft of property in 600 buildings for HSBC in Hong Kong, Macau & China; for 5m sq ft of property in 700 locations for PCCW Hong Kong Telecom in Hong Kong; and most recently as a Director of the Emrill joint venture with Emaar in the UAE delivering services and management to all estate, infrastructure and amenity services for Emaar’s mixed use residential, commercial and retail parks in Dubai.

In a personal capacity, Oliver is Chairman of The Autism Trust, a recently formed charity and is Chairman of Babel Language Consulting - a successful international support services business. He is also a committed winter sports enthusiast, having enjoyed challenging skiing since childhood and, in more recent years, having taken on the role of Chairman of SnowsportGB (the British Ski & Snowboard Federation). He is also a very active member of the St Moritz Tobogganing Club and rides the Cresta Run competitively during winter months. In the UK during the rest of the year, he enjoys riding and family time with his wife and twelve year old daughter.
